Our Story

Authentic Greek Cuisine
Growing up in Greece from the big cities to the small villages there is one familiar smell that sparks the nostalgia of our childhood... The traveling smell of "Souvlatzidika" Grills cooking up an array of meats. Each neighborhood had its own restaurant/grill which would be the cornerstone for a quick bite to eat with friends and family and sit on a bench in the local square and talk about politics or sports. We offer those same tastes, smells and ambiance as we lived them growing up in Greece. From Plaka, with it's picturesque alleyways, sight, sounds and smells underneath a breathtaking view of the Acropolis..... to Brooklyn's Front doorstep. Ya Souvlakia offers a touch and taste of Greece.... Let's Go!

Experience the Flavors of Greece
Eating at a Greek “souvlatzidiko” (souvlaki shop) is a must! The souvlatzidiko is a Greek institution- every town and city has a souvlatzidiko or several. The word “souvla” in Greek is a turning spit for roasting meat. Places that have souvlaki often also have another, related favorite – “Gyros.”
These casual self-service places where you either get your food to go – “paketo” in Greek, or you eat at a table or counter or a stand; usually serve the souvlaki or gyro with no plates, just pieces of paper or a simple metal platter.
They are neighborhood places, beloved by locals, and welcoming to visitors. It’s a great place to get a true taste of Greek life.
